Grafton Merchanting to create 170 new jobs in Ireland

Grafton Merchanting

Grafton Merchanting, owner of various builders and plumbers merchant businesses in Ireland, has announced the creation of 170 new jobs over the next two years as the business continues to grow. Part of the larger Grafton Group, the new jobs will increase the number of Grafton Merchanting employees to around 1,420. Around one hundred of the new roles will be created this year, with a further seventy in 2018.

The new roles will include senior management, specialist sales, operatives and administrative support, across most regions with Dublin set to benefit in the next few months with the creation of 30 new roles as the group opens three new branches. The new branches include Chadwicks Express branches in East Wall and Turvey and a Davies' outlet, a specialist heating and bathroom branch in Sallynoggin, south Dublin

The company owns Telfords and Davies builders' and plumbers' merchanting businesses as well as Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley and Sam Hire.

CEO of Grafton Merchanting in the Republic of Ireland, Eddie Kelly, said "the new jobs are further evidence of a tangible and sustainable turning point for the construction sector in Ireland.  At GMROI, our experienced and knowledgeable staff were a real differentiator during the downturn and that sector knowledge has also informed our decision to invest in new store formats in locations that meet the needs of builders in urban locations".
