For over two years we have been surveying the retail prices of the key home improvement products sold by the largest retailers in the UK. Although retailers track their own prices daily against their key competitors, no-one inside the industry really has a good handle on the true price competitiveness of each of the retailers.
Since the middle of 2012, we have also been tracking daily the cost of so called ‘big ticket’ projects such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Within this section of the website, we bring you the following price surveys:
The iPaint30 is a focused basket of thirty Decorative products which compares B&Q, Homebase and Wickes.
The iGarden30 is a focused basket of thirty Garden related products which compares B&Q, Homebase, Wickes and Wyevale Garden Centres.
The Kitchen Audit ranks the current total selling price of a typical popular kitchen design across the major national retailers of kitchens, including B&Q, Homebase, IKEA, John Lewis, Magnet and Wickes. The prices are based on our own ‘model kitchen’, which serves to create a level playing field on which to compare the add-up of the kitchen components.
The Bathroom Audit ranks the current selling prices of a typical bathroom - including all of the necessary components - across B&Q, Bathstore, Homebase and Wickes. Again, the price is based on our own ‘model’ bathroom which currently includes a WC, basin, pedestal, taps, bath, shower and screen.
