Where does this role sit?

The Product Quality Team is responsible for managing the overall Quality throughout the end-to-end product development process and acting as the single point of contact for the category teams.

The primary function is to define the quality and performance requirements for all Kingfisher own brand products, ensuring that they meet the needs and expectations of both the customers’ and the commercial teams, as well as being safe and compliant for our customers in all Kingfisher markets.

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?

Your role as the Sourcing Quality Engineer will be working on a specific category of products, managing the factory assessment and new product development process from selection to Gold Seal approval including product qualification, ensuring legal, specification and timing requirements are met.

You will support the management of production control programs by approved 3rd party service providers, including DUPRO, FRI and Manufacturing Testing (MT) - Whilst identifying and implementing product re-engineering and factory improvement opportunities to drive sustainable CPR and operational efficiencies whilst improving overall product quality.

You will manage the factory qualification process to ensure that new factories meet Kingfisher’s quality requirements, whilst also managing the new product introduction process from the selection stage, working with Product Sourcing Managers (PSMs), Product Quality Engineers (PQEs), Production Engineers and vendor factory personnel.

You will ensure product specifications are understood and agreed with factory, verify Silver Seal samples and provide to PQ Teams for their approval, verify and approve Gold Seal samples and validate first production runs. You will also manage the product qualification process using both internal resources and external test laboratories to ensure all products and associated packaging and IMs meet specification and quality, legal and safety requirements in all OpCo countries in which the products are to be sold.

You will support programs to make design recommendations for materials, manufacturing methods and component selections and work with key factories to define and agree process control plans, FMEA on both product and process and apply appropriate techniques and tools to resolve identified issues.

Qualifications
How will I be able to do this?

To carry out this role you will have solid product development and production technical skills and a good knowledge of quality management systems and audit. You will have a strong understanding of QA and QC methods, problem solving.

Strong time and project management skills are a must, with a high level of attention to detail as well. Knowledge and understanding of EU Directives, Regulations, standards and other legislation, whilst having strong PC skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
