8th Global DIY Summit 2020 Rescheduled

The organisers of the Global DIY Summit conference have postponed the event as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here is the official statement on behalf of the conference, from Reinhard Wolff, president of HIMA, and Sergio Giroldi, president of EDRA/GHIN:

Over the past few weeks we have been closely monitoring the Global coronavirus (Covid-19) situation and assessing whether the Global DIY-Summit 2020 should take place. In particular, as it affects the vast majority of our participants who are unable to travel due to restrictions.

Until yesterday evening we were confident that the situation would not impact our ability to deliver the event and bring together the international home improvement community.

While the EU Authorities implement the highest levels of medical measures and hygiene protocols for travels, we feel that the delivery of a world-class international event will be inevitably impacted by such travel restrictions.

With this in mind, and following close consultation with our event partners, key stakeholders and hosts, we have taken the decision to postpone the 8th Global DIY Summit 2020 to protect the health of all the delegates and sponsors taking part in our event. Further information about the new date will be available in the coming weeks.

By opting to defer the event to a later date, we believe that we will be in a better position to deliver the Global DIY-Summit at full capacity offering our event partners and participants the value and international exposure they have come to expect from us.

For the last 10 years, the Global DIY Summit has been the world’s major event for retailers and manufacturers from the home improvement and garden centre industry. This congress is being jointly organized by the leading non-profit home improvement organisations: EDRA (European DIY-Retail Association) HIMA (Home Improvement Manufacturers Association) and GHIN (Global Home Improvement Network). All together representing over 1500 companies throughout the world.

In order to continue offering this important event for our industry, all tickets and  sponsorships for the Global DIY Summit 2020 will automatically be valid for the rescheduled event. This way all our delegates and partners will not be affected by this decision and will enjoy the full service later.

We are convinced that with the joint efforts from organizers, delegates and sponsors we will be able to overcome this unforeseen situation, reinvent ourselves and will be in a better position to deliver the best edition of the Global DIY Summit in the near future.
