ACCC Delays Decision Over Planned Bunnings-Adelaide Tools Merger
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has confirmed that there will be a delay in announcing its decision regarding the planned acquisition of Adelaide Tools by Bunnings.
In October 2019, Bunnings announced it had entered into an agreement to acquire leading South Australian retailer, Adelaide Tools - a family-owned and operated business with a 70-year history serving the specialised needs of trade users and high-end DIY enthusiasts.
The business operates through five Adelaide stores, Oaklands Mower Centre and an online store.
In November 2019, it was revealed that the ACCC was investigating the planned merger over the impact on competition in South Australia and on a national basis.
An announcement was expected by the end of January 2020 but the ACCC has said that the provisional date for the announcement of its findings has been moved to 14th February.
