Administrators Appointed to Headlam's Ceco (Flooring) Limited
The Board of Headlam (LSE: HEAD) confirms that Ian Leonard and Stuart Irwin of Interpath were yesterday [30th September] appointed as joint administrators of the Company’s subsidiary Ceco (Flooring) Limited.
Unfortunately, following a detailed review of the options available, including exploring the possibility of a sale of the business and its assets, it was deemed there were no other viable options other than to place the entity into administration.
As previously announced on 8 September, Headlam Group plc and HFD Limited are in administration, and with the exception of Ceco (Flooring) Limited, the Group's other trading subsidiaries currently remain unaffected, including those businesses trading under the name of Domus and Melrose.
In a statement, Interpath said:
Ian Leonard and Stuart Irwin of Interpath were appointed joint administrators to Ceco (Flooring) Limited on 30 September 2026.
Based in Carryduff, Ceco is a floor and wall product consultancy providing flooring and tiling solutions for commercial and residential projects across the UK and Ireland. The company employed nine members of staff.
Ceco was a subsidiary company within the Headlam Group, one of the UK's leading floor coverings distributors. Following the appointment of administrators to Headlam Group plc and HFD Limited on 8 September 2026, attempts were made to find a buyer or investor for the Ceco business in order to safeguard its future. Unfortunately, the process did not identify a purchaser, leaving the Company with no viable alternative but to seek the appointment of administrators.
Following the appointment of the administrators, the Company has ceased to trade and, with regret, the majority of employees have been made redundant. A small number of staff have been retained to assist with an orderly wind-down of the business.
Ian Leonard, director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: "Ceco built a strong reputation across Northern Ireland over many years, working with architects, interior designers, universities and education bodies on a range of prestigious commercial projects. It is particularly sad to see a business of this quality reach this point as a consequence of the challenges experienced by the wider Headlam group.
"Our immediate priority is to support the employees affected by this news. We will also be engaging with customers and suppliers to fulfil outstanding orders where possible, and will be exploring options for the brand and assets of the business in due course."
