Akzo Nobel retains MediaCom for global media planning and buying

MediaCom has retained the media planning and buying account for Akzo Nobel following a five month pitch. The company who first started working with Akzo in 2007, will now handle Akzo's largest markets including the UK, China, India and Indonesia and their well known brands Dulux, Cuprinol, Hammerite, Sikkens and International.

The global spend is believed to be in the region of £60m, of which £11m is spent in the UK. MediaCom already handled the business in both the UK and much of the EMEA region and has added South Africa, Argentina and MENA.

Global account director at MediaCom James Marples said "We’re thrilled to be continuing our highly successful partnership with AzkoNobel into its second decade. MediaCom prides itself on long-term relationships with its clients, allowing us to truly understand their businesses and offer compelling and effective solutions to their key challenges".

In March, London based MullenLowe won the company's creative account.
