Amazon Closing US Pop-Up Stores To Focus on Books And 4-Star

Amazon has confirmed it is to close all of its 87 US pop-up stores and will instead focus on expanding its bookstores and 4-Star retail outlets.
An Amazon spokeswoman told The Wall Street Journal: “After much review, we came to the decision to discontinue our pop-up kiosk program, and are instead expanding Amazon Books and Amazon 4-star, where we provide a more comprehensive customer experience and broader selection.”
The pop-up stores typically sell Amazon's voice-controlled products and are located in shopping malls, Kohl's stores and Amazon Whole Foods stores, across 21 US states.
Staff are understood to have been told that the stores will shut by the end of April 2019 and have been told that they will receive severance pay if they remain with the company until the stores close.
