Architects appointed to design new DIY stores
Manchester architects The Harris Partnership today said it has been instructed to design projects worth more than £20m for the DIY and home improvements sector.
In the past month, the firm has won commissions in Gloucester and Guildford for Travis Perkins and a contract to provide design and project management services for two showrooms in London for bathroom specialist CP Hart and a showroom in Golders Green for kitchen chain Magnet.
The Harris Partnership has also been enlisted to design a 45,000 sq ft B&Q store in Tamworth.
Ben Battye, associate director at the architects , said: “It’s clear from this latest tranche of instructions that the British public are improving and not moving.
“With banks reluctant to lend, the home improvement and DIY sector is meeting the demands of homeowners wanting to carry out refurbishments.
