Asda today announced changes to its leadership teams across different functions to support its growth ambitions for 2026, including the appointment of two new senior executives.

Property

Andy Newton will join Asda in January as Vice President, Property, with responsibility for property, estates, acquisitions, and store development. Andy brings extensive experience from senior property roles at Safeway, Morrisons, and most recently Poundstretcher.

Following Andy’s appointment, Jim Townsend will continue in his role as Vice President, Procurement overseeing goods not for resale strategy, policy and buying.  Geri Hebberd will refocus her role as Senior Director, Strategy.

Andy, Jim and Geri will all report directly to Asda’s Chief Financial Officer Michael Gleeson.

Commercial

Max Hilliard has been appointed as Managing Director of Forza & Kober Foods, which is part of Asda’s sourcing division IPL and provides a range of cooked and sliced meats to the business.  The move marks a return home for Max as he founded the Forza business in 2007. He joins immediately.

Following his appointment, Jon Hornby has been appointed as Managing Director IPL Produce Manufacturing.

Customer

In the customer function, Adam Zavalis, VP Marketing has decided to leave the business having delivered Asda’s Christmas advertising campaign. We thank Adam for his contribution during the last two years and wish him well for the future.

Asda is planning to recruit a new VP to lead its advertising, social, creative and design teams. Whilst we search for the right person to lead our Marketing teams through this next, critical chapter, Pippa Prain will move into a new SD Marketing Planning, Propositions & Operations role on an interim basis, to provide end-to-end strategic leadership and coordination across the function. We also welcome back Jen England to Asda as Interim SD Marketing Communications, covering Asda advertising, social and design teams.
