B&M opens Home Store & Garden Centre in former Homebase unit in Runcorn

B&M Garden Centre and Home store Runcorn

B&M has cut the ribbon on yet another store in Runcorn, bringing the total in the town to two.

The new Home store & Garden Centre has replaced the former Homebase on Bridge Retail Park, creating 70 jobs in the process.

In order to make the opening day memorable, B&M invited along representatives from Halton Haven Hospice, including Sean Pollard, CEO, as their Local Heroes for the day.

A B&M Local Hero is chosen by store colleagues and is given to an individual or organisation who has made a significant contribution in their local community.

In addition to taking part in the ribbon cutting, they also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for the work that they do.

The Hospice provides palliative care through a range of services to individuals, as well as support for their families in Widnes, Runcorn and surrounding areas.

By extending their care to the families who are also affected, they are able to provide numerous services to support and aid families who are facing particularly difficult times in their lives.

The first few lucky B&M shoppers were able to experience this caring nature, with the hospice's representative's bag packing on opening day.

Speaking to the Runcorn and Widnes World, Halton Council Leader Councillor Rob Polhill spoke of his delight at B&M's newest Runcorn store.

He said: "This is great news and I'm really pleased that B&M has chosen to locate here.
"The creation of 70 jobs is very welcome especially given the sad news that Homebase closed"

"I'm sure this will be a good location for B&M and of great benefit to the area."

A face painter was also in attendance, as well as free samples of Swizzles being handed out, ensuring that everyone was enjoying themselves on what was a memorable day for those involved.

This store opening has followed hot on the heels of B&M's recent warehouse opening in Manor Park, which created a total of 250 jobs in the area.
