B&Q likely to replace npower as Football League sponsor
Football League chiefs are set to unveil a new title sponsorship with DIY chain B&Q.
The League have been in talks with a number of companies after npower confirmed they would not be renewing their £21m three-year agreement.
A leading car firm is also in the running to put their name to the world’s oldest league competition.
But B&Q are in pole position and close to cementing a deal worth up to £9m a year.
That would be good news for the 72 clubs outside the top flight who are facing a number of financial challenges.
Attendances across all three divisions are down so far in 2012-13.
