Carlisle Homebase Set To Close

Staff at Kingstown Homebase in Carlisle have entered into a consultation period, ahead of the planned closure of the store.

'Closing down' signs have been put up outside the Homebase store, which is located on the Kingstown Retail Park.

Earlier this year, the city council received a planning application to replace Homebase with a B&M store and a Smyths Toy Store.  At the time, Homebase said, “discussions are ongoing” with M&G Real Estate, the landlord of the retail park.

The closing date has not been confirmed and it is still unclear if B&M and Smyths Toy Store are to take on the unit once it is vacated.

A new retail development located close to the Kingstown Retail Park is due to open next May, with three retailers already confirmed.  Oak Furnitureland and Wren Kitchens will join Costa Coffee on the site, which is currently known as Gateway 44.
