Checkatrade is Now Available Within ChatGPT
- The UK's leading home improvement platform integrates with ChatGPT, making it easier than ever to find and book trusted tradespeople
Checkatrade, the UK's leading home improvement platform, has today announced the launch of its new app inside ChatGPT, enabling consumers to find and book vetted, local tradespeople.
The integration allows consumers to describe the job they need done and either receive a list of suitable tradespeople or, for straightforward jobs, get a fixed price and book directly inside ChatGPT.
Checkatrade has spent 28 years building the most trusted name in the UK trades industry, with over 50,000 vetted trade businesses - including plumbers, electricians, roofers, builders, gardeners, painters and decorators, landscapers, carpenters and plasterers - who must pass up to 12 checks and maintain consistently strong reviews to earn the Checkatrade seal of approval.
Jambu Palaniappan, CEO of Checkatrade, said: "We've spent almost three decades helping consumers build trust in finding and hiring quality tradespeople, and that’s more important than ever as people increasingly turn to AI tools to find help with jobs at home. While LLMs make it easier to discover tradespeople, trust remains key. By bringing Checkatrade into ChatGPT, consumers can move seamlessly from inspiration to action, finding a vetted, trusted tradesperson and booking them directly, all in one place.”
Checkatrade’s new app makes getting a job done simpler and more reliable, while helping trade members connect with even more customers who are ready to hire. The launch marks the latest milestone in Checkatrade's commitment to digital innovation and reflects the growing role LLMs play in everyday consumer life.
Checkatrade's AI ambitions don't stop with consumers. The platform has also recently launched TradeMore: a free, AI-powered job management platform built specifically for tradespeople. Designed to cut admin time and simplify running a trade business, TradeMore brings job management, scheduling, quotes, invoicing and managing certificates into one place, and is available to all UK tradespeople - not just Checkatrade members.
Together, the ChatGPT integration and TradeMore represent Checkatrade's commitment to harnessing AI across both sides of its marketplace - helping consumers find the right trade, and helping trades seamlessly run their business.
EXPLAINER: HOW CHECKATRADE’S CHAT GPT APP WORKS:
Imagine you want to mount your TV and you're based in London. Once a user has enabled the Checkatrade ChatGPT app, they can simply open ChatGPT and type: "I want someone to mount my TV in Manchester, can I get a fixed price?"
The Checkatrade app will ask you a few qualifying questions - such as the size of your TV and wall type - before presenting you with a fixed price and a vetted local tradesperson ready to do the job. You can then book directly within ChatGPT.
For more complex jobs, the same process applies: describe what you need, share your location, and you'll be shown a list of suitable, vetted tradespeople to contact for quotes.
