Dobbies expands e-commerce with NYK

NYK Logistics is supporting the growth of Dobbies Garden Centres’ ecommerce business by expanding the internet fulfillment operation it provides for the retailer’s online garden centre. Dobbies has branched out from its original base in Scotland and now operates 26 garden centres in the UK. It has outlets as far south as Shepton Mallet, Milton Keynes and Ashford and has widened its scope further online.

NYK’s expanded fulfillment service builds on the end-to-end supply chain that it already supplies to Dobbies. The new operation will also include stock intake, storage and order picking of internet stock-keeping units, as well as preparation for dispatch by nominated carriers. It will help Dobbies improve its geographic reach and stockholding while providing significant IT benefits.

By using NYK for this service, Dobbies benefits from the established team and IT infrastructure already in place at NYK’s Glasgow distribution centre, which is experienced in handling a wide variety of products and providing nationwide distribution.
