Dobbies to share Tesco site in Inverness
SUPERMARKET giant Tesco yesterday unveiled plans to share one of its sites in Inverness with its Dobbies garden centre subsidiary, which would make it the first joint facility north of the Border for the two retailers.
Plans for the £5 million redevelopment of the site at Inshes retail park near Raigmore hospital have now been submitted to Highland Council.
Dobbies expects that the scheme will create 120 jobs. The two chains are also working on plans to share a site at King’s Lynn in Norfolk.
Tesco took over the supermarket on the retail park from the Co-operative in 2000 and will now redevelop the neighbouring unit, which had previously been home to DIY chains Great Mills and Focus.
A unit in between the two was previously occupied by a Jolly Giant toy shop.
