Habitat to open new store in Chichester

Habitat letters

HOMEWARE company Habitat is set to open its new store in Chichester this Friday.

What is being called a ‘Mini Habitat’ store will be situated inside Homebase, located just outside the city at Barnfield Drive.

There will be 20 per cent off all items within the store on Friday to make the grand opening, with the ribbon set to be cut at 8.30am when it will be opened to shoppers.

Clare Askem, managing director of Habitat, said: “Chichester is a particularly exciting opening for us as it offers us an opportunity to trial a brand new store concept on a large scale.

“Customers are now able to interact with Habitat products and staff more conveniently in local Homebase stores and we’re thrilled to debut our brand new look store in Chichester and hope everyone will enjoy having us in the local area.”

The Chichester store is the company’s 35th and largest new Mini Habitat.

The 5,600sqft store is the largest to be opened by the brand since it started rolling out its Mini Habitat project in Homebase stores in 2012, and brings nine new jobs to the local area.

With over 1,300 products from the Habitat collection available including furniture, upholstery, homewares, textile and lighting, the store will showcase a new retail concept developed by Habitat creative director, Polly Dickens, creative manager, Graham Copeland and in-house designer Matthew Long.

The company says the design includes bespoke fixturing designed to enhance the sense of space and light and uses digital technology to create an immersive store environment for customers by incorporating interactive touch screens and video walls.

New design features also include bold checkerboard flooring, a statement chair wall featuring best selling designs, a large gallery space as well as a bold new cash desk design.

Mini Habitat Chichester is will open at Homebase, Discovery Park Barnfield Drive, on Friday and will host a special 20 per cent discount launch, one-day event with refreshments in store throughout the day.
