Home Hardware Stores Limited (“Home Hardware” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Macnab as President and CEO, effective October 10, 2018.

Mr. Macnab is a seasoned omnichannel retailer and proven leader with more than 30 years of retail industry experience, including key roles at Toys “R” Us, Marks & Spencer and D'Allaird's Stores. He is a past Chair of the Retail Council of Canada.

“The Board of Home Hardware is thrilled to welcome Kevin as our new President and CEO,” said Christine Hand, Chairman of the Board. “His appointment marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the company’s history. Kevin brings a combination of global retail experience and a deep understanding of the Canadian market. He understands the importance of adapting to the fast-changing retail landscape and has a track record of increasing market share through omnichannel strategies and new store growth. Most importantly, he understands the unique value and potential of the Home Hardware brand.”

“I am honoured to have been selected to lead such an iconic Canadian retailer with a storied past and strong, dependable brand,” said Kevin Macnab. “I look forward to working with the Dealer-Owners and the entire team at Home Hardware to develop and implement strategies focused on engaging with our customers in new and innovative ways, both in-store and online. This is an exciting time for Home Hardware and I am grateful to the Board for their confidence in me as we plot a course for an even brighter future for the business.”

Prior to joining Home Hardware, Mr. Macnab held a number of senior roles with Toys “R” Us, including Vice President Finance, Real Estate and IT, and then President at Toys “R” Us Canada, and finally as President of International at Toys "R" Us. In this most recent position he was tasked with integrating and connecting the various businesses in Europe, Asia and Canada to drive growth. He was promoted into this global role after successfully leading the company's business in Canada for ten years. During that time, Mr. Macnab delivered strong growth, positioning the company as a category leader.

Before joining Toys “R” Us, Mr. Macnab spent 12 years with Marks & Spencer, including six years in the United Kingdom and six years in senior management roles in Canada. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and holds a bachelor’s degree in business (with honours) from De Montfort University in Leicester, U.K.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Terry Davis for his tremendous contribution to Home Hardware over a long and impressive career,” added Christine Hand. “His leadership and support across many functional areas of our company over the past 48 years has helped Home Hardware remain a significant player in the home improvement industry. His legacy and strong personal values are a part of our social fabric and will live on at Home Hardware."
