Homebase Burnley site to be taken over by The Range

DIY chain Homebase is planning to hand over its Burnley store to another retailer, The Range, as early as next month.

Thirty-five jobs are at risk with the announcement that the Burnley home improvement superstore and garden centre is to close its retail warehouse store in Calder Vale Road. Bosses plan to transfer the business’ lease to rivals, The Range and it is hoped staff at the Burnley Homebase store will be able to get jobs with the new owners.

A statement said: “Homebase can confirm the business has entered a period of consultation with colleagues concerning the proposed closure of our store in Burnley.”

A spokesman for Burnley Jobcentre said they are working with the employers and the staff to find them alternative employment.
