Hungry Bazaar Scales Up With Temu Partnership

A West Yorkshire-based general merchandise supplier has reported a major uplift in sales following its move onto online marketplace Temu.

Founded in 2011, family-run Hungry Bazaar built its reputation supplying homeware, garden and pet products to local retailers and market traders. However, as consumer habits shifted online, the company faced growing pressure to adapt its model.

After experimenting with several e-commerce platforms, Hungry Bazaar joined Temu in late 2024 and experienced transformative results. Sales on the platform have surged to almost £300,000, with the business now targeting £3 million in annual revenue.

“What stood out to us was Temu’s rapid growth, wide customer base, and strong emphasis on value,” said Mohamad Awais, Sales Manager at Hungry Bazaar. “It has been a significant boost for our business.”

Temu, which launched in the UK in 2023, has positioned itself as a low-cost marketplace connecting consumers with affordable, quality products. Its local-to-local distribution model enables faster delivery by dispatching goods from UK-based sellers and warehouses — an approach that has resonated with cost-conscious shoppers.

According to an Ipsos survey, more than 80% of British consumers believe Temu offers good value for money, with four in ten planning to spend more on the platform in 2025. Research from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) also suggests households could save up to £3,000 a year by shopping on marketplaces with similar distribution models.

For Hungry Bazaar, the benefits extend beyond sales. “Temu created a group chat where we can get real-time assistance,” added Awais. “That level of responsiveness is rare among large marketplaces and has made a real difference.”

The company also credits Temu’s suite of seller tools — from product listings to inventory management — with helping it scale efficiently while maintaining service standards.

Looking ahead, Hungry Bazaar is exploring opportunities to expand internationally, leveraging Temu’s infrastructure to re-enter global markets. In the meantime, the company is focusing on domestic growth, hiring additional fulfilment staff and expanding its charitable initiatives to support local communities.

“We believe everyone deserves a beautiful, functional home without overspending,” said Awais. “Our collaboration with Temu is helping make that possible.”
