IKEA has today, Monday 23rd March, opened its Plan and Order Point in Kingsway West Retail Park, Dundee, marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by its eight co-workers and Councillor Mark Flynn, Leader of Dundee City Council.

Plan and Order Points are dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning where customers can visit for tailored design consultations to help design their ideal space. Customers can book an appointment, free of charge, to start their design journey with one of the Dundee store’s planning specialists or use the in-store self-service tools to design their own solution.

In total, customers will find 10 different kitchens to browse for inspiration, from complete solutions to innovative pantry designs that meet the storage needs of all households, as well as an appliance studio. The unit also houses a home furnishing planning area and 8 bespoke PAX wardrobe solutions, each designed to provide inspiration on how to maximise spaces through storage solutions.

At IKEA Plan and Order Points, customers can order from the entire IKEA product range, with the option for next day collection or home delivery. They also offer a collection area for orders made online, as well as providing a service for customers wanting to return any IKEA purchase. The Plan and Order Point will also host a range of 250 home furnishing accessories for immediate takeaway, including some of IKEA's most popular products. Items available include:

  • The famous FRAKTA blue carrier bag (£0.75)
  • FANTASTISK napkins (£2.00)
  • POKAL glasses (£0.75)
  • DRÖNA storage boxes (£3.00)
  • LOTSFÅGEL scented tealights (£2.50)
  • RÖDALM picture frames (£7.00)
  • HEMNES chest of drawers (£75.00)

Kevin Coventry, Market Manager at IKEA, said: "We are thrilled to open the doors to our first-ever IKEA Plan and Order Point in Dundee. This new space is designed to inspire our customers, where they can explore our unique kitchen ranges and smart storage solutions. This is the perfect place to discover IKEA’s diverse range of affordable home solutions, with something for everyone. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in.”

Chris Law, MP for Dundee Central, said: “IKEA’s new Plan and Order Point opening in Dundee today is fantastic news. This store will bring meaningful benefits to the city, from new jobs to improved access to IKEA’s home furnishing products and services for local people. Its opening marks another positive step that strengthens Dundee’s growing reputation in Scotland as a great place to live, work, and do business.”

The opening of the Plan and Order Point in Dundee forms part of IKEA’s wider UK expansion strategy to bring the brand closer to where the many people live, work and socialise. Last year, the retailer opened seven new UK stores – two city centre stores on London’s iconic Oxford Street and in Brighton, two new Plan and Order Points in Hull and York, and three new-format small stores in retail park locations in Harlow, Norwich and Chester. The opening of the Dundee store will bolster the retailer’s presence in Scotland, with existing IKEA stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow and a new Plan and Order Point coming to Aberdeen.

IKEA Plan and Order Point Dundee will open Monday to Friday 10am – 8pm, Saturday and Sundays 10am - 5pm.
