Jewson Orkney Celebrates Inspirational Young Fundraiser
Builders’ merchant Jewson has supported an inspirational young Orkney boy who is making a mammoth fundraising effort that has already raised more than £70,000 for charity.

Gregor, aged four, has a neurological condition that affects his balance and motor skills. However, after learning how to walk short distances independently, he recently set himself the goal of walking laps of his home to raise money for charity.
His initial goal was to do 30 “loops o’ the hoose” to raise £500 for Inclusive Orkney, which provides activities and events for children with additional support needs and their families, but he has since raised more than £70,000 and the total is still rising, even though the initial challenge has been completed.
Having followed Gregor’s journey as a frequent visitor to the branch with his family, the team at Jewson Orkney decided to donate a custom-made Jewson uniform for him to wear during his challenge, as well as other merchandise to spur him along. There were also fundraising buckets and posters placed around the branch.
Iona Corse, Gregor’s mum, said: “Gregor loves tools and anything made from wood, so our local Jewson is one of his favourite places. He would rather go there than go to the toy shop, so when he found out Jewson was going to sponsor his challenge, he was absolutely delighted. He loves his outfit, especially the reflective vest!
“Having Jewson’s support means a lot to both Gregor and myself, and I’d like to thank the team for providing Gregor with his clothing, and for the donation made to his fundraiser. He will certainly grow up to remember this and he appreciates everything Jewson has done for him.
“Even though the challenge has finished, Gregor is still doing his loops most days, and he’s loving every one of them.”
Nicola Stevenson, Branch Manager at Jewson Orkney, said: “To meet a four-year-old with such drive and determination is amazing. Gregor has faced challenges and taken it all in his stride whilst smiling every step of the way. I’m absolutely astounded by the amount of money he has managed to raise and know it will make a huge difference to an incredible cause.”
