Jewson's Woking Branch Joins Merchants' Sustainability Drive

The Jewson branch at Arthurs Bridge Wharf in Woking has become the national builders’ merchant’s latest site to go near zero carbon energy.
The renovation includes improved insulation, energy-saving LED lighting throughout the store, and air source heat pumps to create a comfortable temperature inside the branch. All the technology installed, which is significantly reducing the store’s carbon footprint, is available to customers through Jewson’s Making Better Homes range.
The branch’s environmental makeover has been made possible by its parent company, Saint-Gobain and the building giant’s Carbon Fund. The Woking store is one of around 30 near zero carbon energy Jewson branches planned for the next year.
The Arthurs Bridge Wharf branch also features a new shop area with additional storage space. This means it now stocks a broader range of readily available building materials, including more timber, sheet building products and roofing supplies.
Branch Manager Domi Scrivener said: “Sustainable building products are now part of daily life. The latest updates to building regulations mean our customers will need to become more familiar with solutions which help improve efficiency across their projects.
“We’re proud that our branch is one of those leading Jewson’s drive towards greater sustainability, and that this investment will result in significant improvements for our customers.
“The feedback we get from them is crucial. We’ve heard them ask for a wider variety of timber, sheet and roofing materials recently, so we’re happy to be able to extend the range we offer at our branch.”
