John Lewis to highlight furniture, carpets and textiles made in the UK

John Lewis is to use the "Made in UK" logo to support UK manufacturing and to highlight the fact that up to 90% of certain label ranges within its stores are made in the UK.

The products by 130 British manufacturers include textiles, carpets and the John Lewis & Co. menswear range.

Christine Kasoulis, head of brand development at John Lewis, said: "The reason for doing this now is that there's a feeling that businesses should be doing more to support UK manufacturing."

A "Made in Britain" marque was launched earlier this year by kitchen company Stoves in an effort to help boost sales of British made products and services.
