Trade outlet Screwfix to open a new branch on the Commerce Trade Park in Frome, creating 15 jobs.

The retail DIY and trade chain has said the Frome store opening is part of major expansion plans for the company in the South West and will open its doors later this month, though an exact date is yet to be finalised.

Screwfix's new Frome store manager, Jon Pound, said he is proud of the contribution the new store has made to employment figures in the region.

He said: "We've created 15 new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Frome area. Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service. Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening."

Tradesmen and DIYers are all invited to attend the Frome Screwfix opening at Commerce Trade Park, where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw drilling competition.

Mr Pound believes the store's convenient location and the ability to provide a Click and Collect service within just five minutes of ordering will be a real bonus to local tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts.

He said: "I'm confident that we've got a great location here in Frome. My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we've all been struck by how friendly everyone has been."
