Magnet Opens Small-Format Showroom in Harrogate
- Kitchen specialist expands successful smaller-format concept with new high-street store designed around a more personal customer experience.
Leading kitchen specialist Magnet has continued the rollout of its smaller store format with the opening of a new 2,260 sq ft showroom on Albert Street, Harrogate.
The new location is Magnet’s 10th small-format store, following the success of the concept elsewhere in the UK. Designed to offer customers a more personal and considered kitchen-buying experience, the format combines inspiration and product expertise with expert designers who work closely with customers to understand how they use their kitchen and create a space that works for their lifestyle.

Headed up by Store Manager Michael Higgins and supported by a team of three, the showroom features a selection of Magnet’s key ranges and finishes, including Ambleside Oak & Meadow, Bewdley in Morello & Chalk Blush, a working kitchen featuring Soho & Reed in Parchment & Misty Moors and the Ludlow Butler’s Pantry in Cornish Clay.

Magnet has a long history in the region, having been founded in Bingley in 1918, and today retains its northern roots with its HQ and manufacturing operations in Darlington.
Sophie Rose, CEO of Magnet, said: “This is a proud moment for the whole team and I’d like to thank everyone who’s worked so hard to get the store ready for opening today. As a business founded in Yorkshire over a hundred years ago, it’s great to be continuing the Magnet story here in Harrogate, so close to where it all began.
“Harrogate is also another great example of our smaller store format, giving customers a more personal and intimate design experience while working strongly for us as a business too.
“We’ve already seen a brilliant response locally, with people trying to come through the doors before we’d even officially opened and the team booking design appointments ahead of opening day. It’s a really encouraging sign of the appetite locally for beautiful kitchen design, and I’m excited to see what the team can build from here.”

The new store was officially opened on 25 August by the Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor Viv Poskitt, alongside Magnet CEO Sophie Rose and Store Operations Director James Cheetham.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday 5 September with a special customer opening event inspired by one of Yorkshire’s favourite traditions: a proper cup of tea.
With beverage stations now featuring in 24% of kitchen renovations, Magnet will bring the trend to life for one day only with The Perfect Brew Kitchen, featuring a specially designed tea nook, a local tea expert, live demonstrations and a range of prizes and giveaways.
Customers will also have the chance to win a Butler Pantry or £1,500 off their kitchen throughout September, while the first five qualifying kitchen orders will receive a Quooker boiling water tap worth £1,000.
The Harrogate showroom is open Monday to Saturday, 9am–6pm, and Sunday, 10am–4pm.
