Poundworld launches online store

Poundworld Plus

Poundworld has today announced the launch of its new online e-commerce brand – Poundworld Plus that will enable the family-run discounter to sell its bargains EU wide.

Launching today, Poundworld Plus will offer its customers over 4,000 products including favourite household brands such as Colgate, Coca Cola and Johnsons all at the winning price of £1, available to buy across mobile, desktop and tablet.

The new online brand will also sell an added ‘Plus’ of over 1,000 unmissable multi-price deals for over £1 that will be available exclusively to buy online. Selling everything from garden furniture to pet food, licensed Minions merchandise to mobile phones as well as hundreds of big value grocery items at prices that other high street retailers will struggle to match.

The new sites will initially offer delivery from £3.95 to the UK, Eire and Channel Islands only with plans to deliver EU-wide from summer 2015. Speedy and reliable delivery will be a priority for the company with the online websites providing a next day delivery service priced at £5.95 for eager bargain hunters.

The family-run company ran by Chris Edwards and son Chris Edwards junior currently has over 270 high street stores and will be the first of the single-priced retailers to launch an online shopping site. The fourth fastest growing retailer in the UK, Poundworld currently has a turnover of over £345m and has invested heavily in the business over the past couple of years to drive its strong aspirations for growth.

In particular, Poundworld recently announced investment in a major 10 month IT overhaul and in June 2014 secured over £26m in new funding from Santander Corporate and Commercial to support ambitions to double store numbers in the next five years.

Chris Edwards junior, trading director at Poundworld Retail, said: “Value and convenience are top priorities for the UK shopper. There is a huge consumer demand for an online store that delivers good, transparent value and consistent prices that the shopper can trust.”

“As a retailer it’s important for us to constantly progress and evolve with the times and so we’ve had a dedicated team working on the site for over one year to ensure that the shopping experience we are offering is easy to use.

“No other online discounter on the market can offer the same amazing product range and value and we’re excited to expand in to Europe later in the year.”
