Screwfix leads web order race
Kingfisher chief Ian Cheshire is competing with the fashion set when it comes to speedy internet deliveries.
Last month, high street chains Oasis and Warehouse launched a 90-minute, same-day delivery service for frocks ordered online, currently the fastest in the industry.
But Kingfisher’s trade counter chain Screwfix is about to knock this into a cocked hat, easing the burden of White Van Man by having internet orders ready to collect within 15 minutes from their nearest store.
The brainchild of Screwfix boss Steve Willett, the service, which will be introduced next month, should appeal to the high proportion of customers who order widgets via their smartphones.
