  • Boxing Day sales forecast to grow 2.2% from 2024 (£3.73bn)
  • UK shoppers to splurge £14.15bn in post-Christmas sales - up 2.1% YoY
  • Saturday 27th is forecast to have the highest shopper numbers at 28 million

Brits are set to spend £3.81 billion this Boxing Day, making it the most lucrative day across the whole post-Christmas sales period (25th-31st).

The Shopping for Christmas Report by VoucherCodes.co.uk, the UK’s most-trusted discount site, forecasts Boxing Day sales will rise 2.2% year-on-year, with spending set to reach their highest level since 2021.

High street retailers can look forward to the £2.6bn expected to be spent in stores alone as Brits try to maximise savings, purchasing big ticket items before the New Year. Saturday 27th is set to bring in the second highest sales (£3.48bn), with spending up 4.9% from the previous year. But, as we draw closer to the end of the year spending will tail off down to £1.02bn on New Years Eve.

While shopper numbers are forecast to peak on 27th (28m), those shopping on Boxing Day (23m) are shopping with purpose, spending more than any other day during the six-day sales event. However as Boxing Day tends to be a day for family, fewer people will be shopping both online and offline than on the 27th.

Zoe Morris, Savings Expert at VoucherCodes.co.uk comments: “Christmas might be over for another year but the time for shopping and bagging a bargain is far from over! We know the festive season and seemingly endless Christmas shopping can really take its toll on budgets, but if there’s still some items on your wishlist, the post-Christmas sales can be a great opportunity to cash in on some bargains before the New Year.

“The Boxing Day sales can offer great deals, as retailers clear stock for the new year. But, to get the best possible saving, the key is to always check for a stackable discount code you can use on top of sales. Keep an eye out for VoucherCodes’ purple ‘Works with Sale’ tag on offers - all these offers let you bag an extra saving on top of the sales!”
