Tesco Takes On Amazon With Free Delivery For Clubcard Plus Members

Tesco is looking to drop its grocery delivery charge for customers who are members of its Clubcard Plus subscription service, as it looks to compete with Amazon's expanding grocery delivery service.

Dave Lewis, Tesco CEO, told The Daily Telegraph: “...the idea of Prime is very similar to where we are in Clubcard Plus, in terms of bringing a whole bunch of benefits together, So an opportunity into the future for us is to think about how we put delivery into Clubcard Plus. That’s always been the direction of travel.” 

Amazon UK currently offers free, same-day grocery delivery on Amazon Fresh orders for Prime members.  This is only available in London and certain surrounding postcode areas but Amazon is planning to expand its reach to other areas this year.
