Travis Perkins Expands Hire Offering

The UK’s leading builders’ merchant has launched a significant expansion to its hire offering.

All customers of Travis Perkins can now hire the plant, tools, skips and equipment they need quickly and more flexibly after a new ‘pay-as-you-go’ service has been introduced.

Pay as you go Hire sees customers without a Travis Perkins trade account able to Hire all tools, machinery, plant and site equipment for their vital trade and construction needs for the first time.

There are more than 300 TP Hire branches across the UK, all of which can be found in Travis Perkins branches.

The expansion will see customers able to access the entire Hire offering by simply providing two forms of identification – a photo ID, such as a driving licence or a passport, and a utility bill or bank statement from within the last three months with a valid UK address on it.

Pay as you go Hire has undergone thorough testing to ensure an excellent customer experience. This included trials in several branches nationwide, including Glasgow, Stroud, London and Birmingham.

Ian Sharman-Jones, Managing Director of TP Hire, said: “We have been working on this exciting development for some time and it’s fantastic we are now ready to roll it out to customers nationwide.

“For those customers who currently don’t have a Travis Perkins account, this is game-changing and means that all customers will now have full and complete access to our entire Hire product range.

That includes over 70,000 products and this new offering allows us to service and assist even more Travis Perkins customers, who previously weren't able to have access to Hire the items they need to complete their project without having a Trade account.

This is just the start of the plans we have to support our customers' needs nationwide, with more exciting developments and improvements to the ways we operate and the methods in which our customers can trade with us in the future.”

The service has been rolled out across all Travis Perkins Hire branches, with customers able to hire from one branch and return items to another if they wish.

Kerry Brayshaw, Head of Fleet & Business Improvement at TP Hire, added: “Colleagues at our branches around the UK have undertaken extensive training to ensure the smooth rollout of Pay as you go Hire, and this is a huge step forward for the service we provide our customers.

"We have partnered with Barclays to ensure all payments are taken safely and securely. It ensures all customer details are secure and are purged three months after the product is returned and taken off hire.”
