Two Homebase Stores Forced to Close Temporarily
In the last week, two Homebase stores have had to temporarily close their doors to customers; one due to fire and one due to flooding.
The entrance of Homebase's Aylesford Park store filled with smoke on the 22nd July after a fire started in a cupboard, thought to be behind the customer service desk. Two fire engines attended the scene and the fire was out within an hour.
A Homebase spokeswoman said: "A fire broke out in one of our cupboards today.
"The store was evacuated but as the fire was in a cupboard it was easily contained."
Ten years ago, the same store was destroyed in an arson attack which caused £8m of damage.
Bath's Homebase store had to close for a few hours on Wednesday 24th July after heavy rainstorms overnight caused some flooding in the store.
A spokeswoman for Homebase told local press that there was no damage, stating:
“The flooding was incredibly minor, but for safety reasons we needed to close. The store is now completely dry and safe to walk around."
