Wilko Staff To Share £2m Payout

GMB Union reports that almost 10,000 former Wilko employees are to share in £2 million, following a successful legal case brought by the Union on their behalf.
Last week, the Employment Tribunal ruled that Wilko had failed to properly consult with staff prior to falling into administration in 2023.
The money will be allocated to around 9,000 former staff who worked in stores with 20 or more people, and 1,100 distribution centre and support centre employees. Store staff will receive four days' pay and distribution and support staff will receive 13 days' pay.
David Bartlett, former Wilko worker and GMB rep, said:
“It has been a long, hard, slog getting this money – the very least Wilko workers deserve after the way they were treated.
“In no way will this make up for the stress and anxiety they faced during those dark days in 2023.
“But GMB hopes it will give them a much-needed boost as they move on with their new lives and careers.”
