Wolseley Renewables Centre Launches New F-Gas Training Course

Wolseley Renewables Centre has launched a new F-Gas training course, designed to support heating engineers looking to expand into the air conditioning market and build a more consistent, year-round income stream.

Since launching in April last year, Renewables Centre has trained more than 500 installers in heat pump systems and now offers a growing portfolio of courses spanning heat pumps, solar PV and EV charging, helping installers diversify as demand for low-carbon technologies increases.

As traditional boiler work slows during the spring and summer months, many heating engineers are turning to air conditioning as a complementary service.

The new F-Gas course has been developed to support this transition, providing the certification required to legally handle refrigerants and install air conditioning systems, while building confidence in a new area of work.

To mark the launch, Wolseley offered engineers 10 per cent off the new course, part of a wider effort to make it easier and more affordable for installers to gain the qualifications they need to move into air conditioning.

At the same time, Wolseley Climate Centre is supporting air conditioning engineers looking to move into the fast-growing heat pump market. A new F-Gas to Heat Pump training pathway offers a structured, accredited route into low-carbon heating, enabling engineers to build on existing skills and expand into renewables.

“Engineers are increasingly looking at how they can work more flexibly across the year. For heating engineers, air conditioning is a natural progression that helps balance seasonal demand.

“At the same time, we’re seeing strong interest from air conditioning engineers who want to move into heat pumps. They already have many of the core skills, and with the right training, they can take advantage of the growing demand for low-carbon heating.

“Our focus is on making that transition simple, giving installers the training, accreditation and confidence they need to expand their offer and grow their business.”

Together, Renewables Centre and Climate Centre are supporting a more flexible, multi-skilled workforce, enabling engineers to work across both heating and cooling, reduce reliance on seasonal work and take advantage of growing demand across the industry.
