Woodlands Home & Garden Group Reaches 30 Show Site Milestone

Tiger - Woodlands Home & Garden Group

Woodlands Home & Garden Group’s consumer-facing brand Tiger has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 30th UK show site, marking a rapid acceleration in its physical retail network and reinforcing its growing presence across major garden centre groups.

The milestone site - opened at Sam Turner & Sons in Northallerton - reflects a transformation for a business that began as a pure-play ecommerce operator and has now built a nationwide offline network spanning Scotland, the North of England, Wales, the Midlands and the Home Counties.

Tiger now operates sites in partnership with British Garden Centres, Blue Diamond, Caulders, Dobbies, Yorkshire Garden Centres, Klondyke, Cherry Lane, alongside independent operators and standalone destination sites.

New sites launched this year so far also include Ashton, Basingstoke, Dundee, Grantham, Great Yarmouth, Hinckley, Linlithgow and Morpeth. The growth is notable at a time when traditional high-street retail faces significant headwinds and AI-driven digital commerce is dominating headlines.

Stuart Davison, Commercial Director at Woodlands, highlighted the impact of this success: "Expanding to 30 sites is a landmark moment for Tiger. It demonstrates not only the strength of the garden building category but also the appetite garden centre operators have for partnering with a strong national brand. The physical retail environment remains incredibly powerful for considered purchases like sheds and garden rooms – our research shows that while many consumers enjoy our online shopping experience, a lot customers want to see, touch and compare our quality buildings in the flesh. "

The show site model complements Tiger’s established digital platform, which includes online configurators allowing customers to design bespoke buildings and a virtual showroom to browse the collection. The growth in the network reflects Tiger’s ecommerce performance, which itself has more than doubled since 2019.

Originally founded in Yorkshire over 110 years ago, the business is now owned via an Employee Owned Trust, employing more than 230 people across manufacturing, head office, logistics as well as retail.

Ross Moran, CEO of Woodlands Home & Garden Group, emphasised the importance of this expansion: "Over the years we’ve invested significantly in above-the-line brand building - including TV advertising, press and PR, and physical brochures - to drive awareness. That investment is now feeding into retail partnerships and creating strong returns for our operators. We have been developing our network since the beginning of 2023, and to reach 30 venues in such a short time shows how much demand there is – both from consumers, and also from our franchise partners."

Product innovation has been central to Tiger’s growth. The company led modularisation in the sector with its TigerFlex® range and recently unveiled the Black Tiger range of insulated cabins: hybrid timber buildings with added insulation designed for year-round use.

Lauren Coley, Product Director, added: “Innovation is what keeps the category moving forward. From modularisation to insulated hybrid construction, we continue to challenge traditional shed design.”

The business has also invested heavily in operational capacity, including new machinery, expanded workspace and a new distribution centre opened within the last year.

Agata Choma, Operations Director, said: “Scaling handcrafted production while maintaining quality is complex. We’ve invested significantly in infrastructure to ensure we can meet growing demand without compromising standards. The rapid expansion of our network is a challenge we have met successfully and we continue to meet the increased demand for TIger’s quality range.”

Tiger has won multiple marketing and business awards in the last 12 months, while Woodlands has also collected manufacturing and business accolades including the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Award and recognition at the Made in Yorkshire Manufacturing Awards.

Ross Moran, added:  “Further site openings are already planned for later this year, later this month and even later this week, as our expansion gathers even more momentum and we are able to add extra ‘pull’ to those venues who choose to host our sites We’re not planning to slow down our network expansion any time soon, as we expand our product offer to consumers and the means for consumers to discover it.”
