Today (16th January), BiKBBI is supporting a new and innovative kitchen & bathroom installation platform known as Protected. The aim of the independent service is to support consumers to connect with local members of The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI), via a digital platform. The Protected platform includes a number of protective measures to safeguard the installation project and the transacting parties – the customer and the installer.

BiKBBI is trialling the Protected platform nationally and B&Q is supporting this trial within 20 of its stores in the South Midlands.

BiKBBI, CEO, Damian Walters, said: “We’ve been working on the Protected initiative for nearly four years now and I’m pleased to confirm that we’re about to launch the platform in trial format with a selection of retailers.

“We’ve been working with B&Q for a number of years as an Installations Standards Partner and I’m delighted that we’re continuing this relationship with a trial of the Protected service in 20 of their stores in the Midlands.”

Chris Bargate, Director of Business Development, B&Q commented: “We’re committed to helping our customers who would like support at the installation stage of their kitchen and bathroom projects and in our experience, customers prefer to choose their own fitters and installers.  We’re supporting the trial of Protected from BiKBBI as this independent online service aims to help customers to do just that.”

The trial with B&Q is running in the South Midlands at the following B&Q stores: Banbury, Bedford, Coventry, Coventry Brandon Road, Grantham, Hinckley, Huntingdon, Kettering, Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Milton Keynes, Netherfield, Northampton, Nottingham, Peterborough, St. Neots, Wellingborough, Wigston and Witney.

For the trial with B&Q, customers buying kitchens & bathrooms in these stores will be given a Protected scheme leaflet, providing full details on how it works, as well as a copy of the B&Q ‘How to Choose an Installer’ guide, which provides more generic information on the topic of installation.

The Protected service is for BiKBBI registered members only and the trial with B&Q is limited at this time to those registered members in the South Midlands area.

Working with participating retailers, BiKBBI will operate the trial for a few months to enable full assessment and further development of the service.
