B&Q to relocate horticultural operations

More than 70 jobs are under threat at a Coventry firm after losing a national contract.

B&Q has decided to remove its horticultural operations from Wincanton, based in Siskin Drive, off the Tollbar roundabout, and relocate it to Hertfordshire.

The move is expected to go through in November and will affect a total of 76 workers, who will be given the option of moving to the new operation just inside the M25 motorway.

A Wincanton spokesman said: “Following a strategic review of its operations, we can confirm that B&Q has proposed to relocate its horticulture operation from Coventry to Radlett, effective November 2014.

“Should the proposal go ahead, all affected Wincanton employees will have the option to transfer with their current role to the new site.

“We are entering into immediate consultation with affected employees.”
