JYSK to Open First Welsh Store Next Year
On the back of one of its most successful UK store openings to date in Hull this month, JYSK today announces the opening of its debut store in Wales set for early 2027. The Danish retailer will be introducing its Scandinavian homeware presence to the second largest city in Wales marking a major milestone in its UK growth.
Due to open in Spring 2027, the new Swansea store located at Parc Tawe North Retail Park will provide shoppers with over 1000m2 of interior shopping heaven with JYSK’s extension product portfolio on full display.
With over 1,000 product SKUs available and prices starting from under £1 there’s something for everyone from serial renovators to décor refreshers. The Swansea store will introduce Welsh shoppers to JYSK’s extensive range of Scandinavian-inspired home and garden furniture, accessories and sleep products.
Opening in Wales represents a significant step forward for JYSK, with the retailer entering a new UK nation for the first time since launching in England in 2008. The expansion reflects JYSK's continued investment in bringing its affordable Scandinavian home furnishing concept to more customers across the country, with more Welsh stores on the horizon throughout 2027.

Ciaron Hearns, Brand & Marketing Manager, UK & Ireland at JYSK, says: "We're incredibly excited to be opening our first store in Wales and finally sharing the news after working towards this opening for some time. We’re not only opening a new store but also entering a new country with excellent growth potential. This is an important milestone for JYSK as we look to continue our UK expansion over the coming years. We can't wait to welcome new customers through the doors and become part of the local community."
The Swansea store will feature JYSK’s latest retail concept, designed to create a bright and inspiring shopping environment that makes it easy for customers to explore and shop. The layout will showcase key home categories including furniture, mattresses, home decor, storage solutions and outdoor living, all presented with a focus on quality and affordable value.
The opening will create over 10 new jobs in Swansea, supporting local employment as part of JYSK’s continued investment in its UK store network. The store will launch with JYSK’s usual opening-day flair, including exclusive offers, a DJ on site and additional initiatives to help bring the community together in celebration.
Insight Perspective
1) A strategic shift from UK-wide coverage to a more ambitious expansion phase: The opening of a store in Wales represents a new market for JYSK rather than simply another branch location, and the intention to open further Welsh stores next year suggests Swansea is likely to be the first step in building a regional presence. The key measure of success will be whether JYSK can establish sufficient brand awareness and customer demand to support a wider network.
2) Growing competitive pressure across the home, furniture and DIY sectors: JYSK's combination of affordable Scandinavian design, furniture, mattresses, storage and garden products positions it across several established retail categories. Its arrival in the area could intensify competition for retailers such as Dunelm, The Range, B&M and traditional furniture specialists, particularly around discretionary home spending. Its broad product offer also creates potential to attract customers who might otherwise shop across several different retailers.
