Kingfisher plc today announces that Mark Seligman, Senior Independent Director, has notified the Company of his intention to step down from the Board on 29 January 2021. Mark has served on the Board for nine years and, in line with the Company's commitment to comply with the UK Corporate Governance Code Principles, has decided to step down from the Board at this point.

The Board would like to thank Mark for his invaluable support and significant contribution to the Company, not least in his role as Senior Independent Director, and wishes him well for the future.

Kingfisher also announces today that Catherine Bradley has been appointed to the Board of the Company as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 2 November 2020. Catherine will assume the role of Senior Independent Director on 29 January 2021 following Mark’s departure.

Catherine, who has French and British citizenship, is currently an independent member of the Supervisory Board of PEUGEOT S.A., where she also chairs its Finance and Audit Committee. Catherine is also a non-executive director of Johnson Electric Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong listed company, and of easyJet plc where she chairs its Finance Committee. Catherine recently stepped down as a non-executive director of the Financial Conduct Authority, the UK financial regulator, after serving two three-year terms. She was previously a non-executive director of WS Atkins plc.

Before embarking on her non-executive career, Catherine had a 30-year career in investment banking based in the US, the UK and Asia. She was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in June 2019.

Commenting on the appointment, Andy Cosslett, Chairman of Kingfisher, said: “I am delighted to welcome Catherine to the Kingfisher Board. Her broad range of skills and experience, including those gained whilst on the board of the FCA, will be of great benefit to Kingfisher in her forthcoming role as Senior Independent Director. Catherine also brings a wealth of expertise in finance and risk management from her distinguished career in investment banking. We are very much looking forward to working with her. I would also like to thank Mark for his wise counsel and invaluable contribution to Kingfisher over the past nine years.”

Catherine Bradley said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of Kingfisher and look forward to representing them as its Senior Independent Director from January. I am excited by the clear opportunities to create sustainable and long-term stakeholder value under the leadership of CEO, Thierry Garnier.”
