Retail Footfall Declines Amid Further Restrictions
Retail footfall for the last week of 2020 declined by -56.7% year on year, according to Springboard data.
The week-on-week decline was -38.1%.
Springboard's Marketing and Insights Director, Diane Wehrle, said:
"In what was the last week of 2020, footfall in UK retail destinations continued to respond to tightening government restrictions, dropping significantly from the week before.
"Inevitably - now that the extent of Tier 4 has widened across virtually all of England, lockdowns are in place in the devolved nations and that the present buying period has ended - the great drop in footfall occurred in shopping centres, where it declined from the previous week by a third more than in high streets and twice as much as in retail parks."
