Screwfix Foundation Raises £1.9m to Transform Community Spaces

Screwfix (corporate)

The Screwfix Foundation has raised £1.9 million over the past year, donating £1.5 million to 359 projects and supporting nearly 300,000 people, according to its 2025/26 Impact Report.

The report highlights the role of customers, colleagues and partners across the UK and Ireland, whose fundraising efforts and checkout donations have helped repair and revitalise vital community spaces, from mental health centres to homeless shelters, enabling registered charities and not-for-profit organisations to heal, rebuild and thrive.

Since its launch, the Screwfix Foundation has now raised more than £17.5 million, supporting over 3,500 projects, including over £6.5 million raised through micro-donations via Pennies at checkout.

John Mewett, The Screwfix Foundation Trustee and Screwfix CEO said “On behalf of The Screwfix Foundation, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our customers, colleagues and partners for your continued support throughout the year. Your generosity and commitment have enabled us to make a real difference in communities across the UK, helping those most in need. Every donation, every effort, and every word of encouragement has contributed to the success of our mission.”

The difference we have made

Case studies in the report showcase the tangible difference this funding is making, from installing electric sliding doors to improve safe, independent access for people with mobility challenges, to creating inclusive outdoor spaces for individuals with learning disabilities. Other projects have transformed interiors for charities supporting children with disabilities and hospice patients, creating safe, welcoming environments where families can connect and access vital support. As one beneficiary shared, the improvements have “made a huge difference to people's ability to access the space safely and independently”.

The report also highlights the Screwfix Foundation's growing partnership with Volunteer It Yourself (VIY), which aims to transform community spaces while giving young people the chance to learn valuable trade skills. Four projects have already been completed, with participants gaining hands on experience and working towards recognised qualifications. The partnership is set to expand across all four UK nations by the end of 2026.

Future focus

Looking ahead, the Screwfix Foundation remains committed to supporting local projects across the UK, raising its profile in the Republic of Ireland and building on its partnership with Hospice UK, to provide vital funding to charities and not-for-profit organisations supporting those in need.
