The Range to Open their 175th Branch

The Range store

A brand new home, leisure and gardens retailer will open in Paisley in September, creating 80 new jobs. The Range is set to open its 175th superstore in Paisley Retail Park on Friday, September 13 at 9am.

The new store in Paisley will create 80 full and part-time jobs ranging from store and department managers to warehouse assistants and retail administrators.

It is a new build on the site at Wallneuk Road and the store will join Lidl, which opened its first branch in Paisley on the site back in May. A Tim Horton’s coffee shop and cafe is also expected to open on the retail park later this year.

Owner and founder of the firm Chris Dawson said he’s looking forward to opening the new branch in Paisley. He said: “Opening a new store is always an exciting moment for the company and Paisley is no exception.

“The job provision that comes with the new store, especially with it being a new build, should be a great boost to the local area.”

The Range in Paisley will provide products including arts and crafts, home interiors and DIY. The store will also include an Iceland foods, family cafe and large outdoor garden centre.

The opening of the store marks another positive step forward in the troubled history of the site, which used to be home to an indoor bowling alley.

Tesco bought the site after the bowling alley closed in 2010 and vowed to open a superstore, creating nearly 600 jobs for the town.

But it pulled out just three years later after failed overseas businesses developments forced a reshape of the company.

They then sold the site to London and Scottish Investments, which has turned it into a £10million retail park.
