Home improvement retailer, Wickes, has announced its new charity partnership with YoungMinds, which will see the brand help to raise £1 million to support young people across the UK.

Throughout the two-year partnership, colleagues at Wickes will embark on a series of fundraising missions in a bid to raise the funds, including hosting coffee mornings, organising bake sales and running marathons.

YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity fighting for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. Its mission is to make sure all young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.

David Wood, CEO, Wickes, said: “We are really excited about our partnership with Young Minds and are confident we can rise to meet this challenge of our ambitious fund-raising goal. The mission of YoungMinds is something which resonates strongly at Wickes and we know there will be a high volume of support for the charity from our colleagues. We couldn’t be prouder to support this great cause.”

Emma Thomas, Chief Executive at YoungMinds, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Wickes’s staff as their new charity partner and are hugely grateful to have the support of this fantastic organisation. Their generosity will help us continue our vital work fighting for the mental health of children and young people across the UK, and we are very much looking forward to working with them closely over the next two years.”

Wickes previously partnered with Alzheimer’s Research UK, raising a staggering £2.3 million for the country’s leading dementia research charity. This amount was enough to fund Alzheimer’s UK’s Research Network for over three years. The Research Network allows over 2,000 scientists from across the UK to collaborate on life-changing research.
