Wickes to open in former Focus store in Paulton

National DIY chain, Wickes Building Supplies has been given the go ahead to develop the former Focus store at Paulton.

The group intends to invest around £2.2million into the site at Old Mills and create up to 50 jobs.

The buildings have stood empty since Focus went into administration in 2011.

The plans include the complete refurbishment of the building, with new entrances, a revised parking layout and a new landscaping scheme.

The application was backed by Paulton parish council who said the scheme was in keeping with their objective of keeping the Old Mills site for employment use.

It was also given the thumbs up by neighbouring Midsomer Norton Town Council and nearby residents who say they are pleased to see a derelict site brought back into use.

Agents for Wickes have said the development is an “an exciting opportunity for the town”, which will bring in investment to the area and overall benefit the local economy.
