Wickes Updates Paint Visualiser

Wickes Cardiff sign

As the clocks turn back and the longer darker days loom, choosing a paint shade that will look good in both bright summer sunlight and darker winter haze can be tricky.

Home improvement retailer, Wickes, is helping DIY-ers turn every room into a cosy haven with a brand NEW update to its Paint Visualiser. Those looking to switch up their colour scheme can now avoid a decorating disaster by testing out what their paint will look like in different lights before bringing it home.

Easy-to-use with a three-step process, shoppers can test out various paint shades in each room of the house and easily see how different lighting, such as natural or artificial, can affect the shade. Shoppers can either choose between a blank canvas or four room types with a different on-trend theme, such as ‘Uplifting Brights’, ‘Mellow Sunset’, ‘Natural Drama’ or ‘Step into Serenity’, to match as close to their personal space to get the most realistic look.

With a first to market lighting function, shoppers will be able to test the complete Wickes paint range, from own brand to Dulux and Crown. Showing what each colour will look like in both natural and artificial lighting, it's ideal for decorating during changing seasons. Once happy with the paint shade, shoppers can simply click the ‘add to basket’ option for speedy purchasing.

Lewis Janes, Senior Category Manager of Paint at Wickes, said: “The changing light throughout the seasons can make it difficult to choose a colour scheme when decorating. With the clocks set to go back and bring darker nights, it’s important to consider what colours will look like in artificial light as well as daylight. When starting your search, think about how much light a room receives throughout the year and the time of day you typically spend in it. Be sure to test out how a shade will look in both natural and artificial light by using the Wickes Paint Visualiser, choosing a colour that stands out in both. Green shades are a versatile choice, appearing bright and colourful in the sun, while warm and rich during the night.”

For those looking to add a hint of colour to the home, try the Wickes Paint Visualiser on ‘Charming Warmth’’ to explore Wickes wide range of paints suitable for the bedroom, including Dusty Rose (£15, 2.5L) to create the perfect luxurious ambience or Pastel Olive (£15, 2.5L) for a modern and laid-back feel.
