Flooring Superstore Reports High Footfall At New Catford Branch

Flooring Superstore Catford opening

Shoppers are flocking to a new £150,000 store in Catford opened recently by one of the UK’s fastest-growing retail companies.

Flooring Superstore say footfall at the store on the Catford Hill Retail Park has been particularly high since it opened its doors in June, with over 20% more people visiting than originally forecast.

The retailer has put this down to people focusing on home improvements over the summer with uncertainty remaining over holidays due to Covid-19.

Flooring Superstore has invested £150,000 in the 5,790 square foot store which has created four new sales representative roles for local people.

This was the 8th store launched by Flooring Superstore since non-essential retail was permitted to re-open from 12th April and the retailer’s fifth in London. Outlets in Brent Cross, Romford, Croydon, and Orpington have all opened in the last 12 months.

The retailer’s store openings are coming at a rapid pace. So far in 2021, it has launched stores in Huddersfield, Doncaster, Newcastle, Norwich, Lincoln, Hull, Orpington, Basingstoke, Carlisle, Reading, Catford, Kidderminster, Plymouth, Preston, Cheltenham, and Glasgow

Flooring Superstore Regional Manager Ian Robinson said: “We couldn’t be happier with how busy the store in Catford has been since it opened in June.

“It’s clear that people are still very much focused on carrying out home improvements at this time especially with luxuries like holidays still uncertain.

“This has been reflected in sales of all types of flooring we stock, whether it’s carpet, wood or even artificial grass for the garden.”

Shoppers visiting Flooring Superstore in Catford have access to an unrivalled range of carpets but also a huge choice of other flooring, such as vinyl, laminate, real wood, luxury vinyl tiles, EvoCore and the UK’s largest selection of artificial grass.

Ian added: “We’re different from other flooring stores because of the range of flooring people can buy, but also because as a company which started life purely online less than ten years ago, we are able to offer online pricing in our physical stores too.

“By the middle of 2020 we had no stores in London and now, with Catford, this figures now stands at five, with more in the pipeline.

“Based on the first few months of trading, we’re excited about the contribution we are already making to the local retail economy in Catford and the wider London area.”

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Flooring Superstore is now also inviting local charities, voluntary organisations, or other good causes to see if they would benefit from donations of flooring for a particular project.

Ian adds: “It’s something we have always do when we open a new store in an area and is our own little way of giving something back to the local communities who support our stores, so we would be delighted to hear from groups in Catford.” Donation requests can be emailed to

To mark the opening, Flooring Superstore has been running a free, instore ‘Golden Ticket’ promotion. Anyone who comes into the store, regardless of whether they are buying flooring or not, will be invited to take one of 150 tickets. 145 of these tickets will have 15% off flooring, four will give people £250 to spend in-store and one golden ticket will give a lucky person £1,000 to spend on flooring ranges of their choice.
